- Are they accurate?
The flow meters are temperature compensated and pressure corrected to give accurate volumetric flow rates. A NIST traceable certificate of calibration accompanies all calibrators.
- Are they easy to use?
Turn them on, attach a pump and you have a continuous real-time reading of flow rate. They are very portable, lightweight and respond quickly to air flow making real-time adjustments during the calibration of sampling pumps.
- Can I use an AC adapter for longer operation?
An AC adapter Model 8918 is available for $70 USD. Please specify the country where the adapter will be used for proper plug configuration.
- Can I use rechargeable batteries?
Yes, but it will cost some expected operating life. Rechargeables will typically last one-half to two-thirds as long as alkaline batteries.
- Is real-time important?
Saves a great deal of time and money by being able to set flow rates or make corrective adjustments without having to wait for a measurement.
- What are they used for?
Field calibration or verification of sample pumps used for exposure monitoring and active air sampling instuments. Allows real-time adjustments in the flowrate of sampling pumps.
- What are they?
They are battery (or AC adapter) powered Mass Flowmeters.
- What batteries does it take and how long will they run?
The battery pack uses 6 – AA size batteries and alkaline batteries are provided. The estimated life of alkaline batteries is 20 hours.
- What is the performance?
- The model 4146 has a measurement range of 0.01 to 20 L/min ±2% of reading or 0.005 L/min, whichever is greater. This is suitable for all personal sampling pumps on the market and smaller area sampling pumps.
- The model 4046 has a measurement range of 2.5 to 300 L/min ±2% of reading or 0.05 lpm, whichever is greater.
- What is the recommended service interval for Pump Calibrators?
TSI recommends annual factory maintenance and recalibration for accurate and reliable operation.

- Why are they used?
Most operational protocol for personal sampling requires pump flow to be set and documented before sampling begins and again checked and documented when a sampling cycle is completed. Periodic verification checks during sampling can also easily be conducted with the battery operated portable calibrators.
